Concerto Competition Results

We were treated to an afternoon of wonderful performances as 12 musicians took the stage at Reservoir HS on December 15th to compete in our annual concerto competition.  The performers were incredible, and did not make it easy for Nana Vaughn and Richard Scerbo, our judging panel, to pick the winners.

Lydia You, Oboe

We would like to congratulate Lydia You.  Lydia performed the 1st movement of Mozart’s Oboe Concerto C Major with outstanding control and breathtaking musicality and was chosen by our panel as the winner. Lydia wins the opportunity to perform with HCYO on Saturday, May 17th.

Our runner up is Chloe Chung, who delivered a wonderful performance of the 1st movement of the exceedingly difficult Sibelius Violin Concerto.  Chloe will also serve as the alternate if Lydia is unable to perform with the orchestra.

The judges also awarded an honorable mention to Eric Lui for his performance of the 3rd movement of Andres Martin's 1st bass concerto.  What a cool piece!

Again, congratulations to all of the participants.
